Nusa Penida, and neighbouring Lembongan and Ceningan islands, are a bird sanctuary. The islands communities have used traditional Balinese village regulations to create the sanctuary. The idea of a sanctuary came from the Friends of the National Parks Foundation (FNPF).In 2006 all 35 villages (now 41 villages) agreed to make bird protection part of their traditional regulations (“awig-awig”). Since then, the FNPF has rehabilitated and released various Indonesian birds, most notably the critically endangered Bali starling which is endemic to Bali but whose numbers in the wild had declined to less than 10 in 2005. After a two-year program by FNPF in which 64 cage bred birds were rehabilitated and released onto Nusa Penida, their number had increased to over 100 in 2009. Other released birds include the Java sparrow, Mitchell's lorikeet and sulphur crested cockatoo.

The Vesper Sparrow can be found in both open spaces and bushy woodland. The male sings from a higher perch, such as a shrub or fence post. The musical song begins with two pairs of repeated whistled notes and ends in a series of trills. In summer, its clear song may be heard at any time of day but it sings most impressively in the evening. This recording offers continuous Vesper Sparrow birdsong recorded in its natural habitat of grasslands together with other birds and ground creatures. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Sparrow Vesper. The twisted and intriguing storytelling that you loved in Consequences and Infidelity continues with an all-new alpha anti-hero in the dark romance series Web of Sin, by New York Times best-selling author Aleatha Romig. I am... That’s no longer an easy statement. Who am I? Since Sterling Sparrow, a man so handsome he takes my breath away and so infuriating he pushes me in ways I’ve never known, came barreling into my life like a category five hurricane, I can’t even finish that simple statement. In 26 years I’ve lived three lives - been three different people. Renee. Kennedy. And now, Araneae. They say that I was named after the spider to make me resilient. Sparrow would then be a bird. Birds eat spiders. I prefer to consider myself a cat. It ups my chance of surviving the world I’m now living. Maybe that’s only wishful thinking because according to Sterling, my number of lives is running out. There are people who want to harm me, to learn the secrets they claim that I possess. The only person to offer me protection is Sterling Sparrow. Can I trust a man who willingly put me in the sight of danger? What is real? What are lies? Have you been Aleatha’d? Lies is book two of the Web of Sin trilogy. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Alexander Cendese, Savannah Peachwood. Audio sample: http://samples.audible.de/bk/adbl/050921/bk_adbl_050921_sample.mp3.
